How can dealing with a breakup be so so rough on a person? . What may seem common sense is usually not common practice since practicing it can be real difficult.

There are people who advise getting rid of all the things you have that your ex gave you, as part of dealing with a breakup. They talk about erasing the memories with this person and many other steps to get over the breakup. While it makes sense, in reality this can be very difficult. So what do you do?
